That place you can go for brunch. That place you can go for lunch. That place you can grab an 18 inch pizza. That place to share a sumptuous platter with friends. That place you can enjoy an ice cold beer in one of our infamous vases. That place that serves amazing cocktails. That place you can indulge in some delicious boutique wines by the glass. That place that the outside is as comfortable as the inside. That place with an open fire. That place by the sea.
So really it’s not that place. It’s the place. It’s not about trying to be cool. It’s about being you, in a cool, laid back and fun environment. We’re not all about what’s hot and what’s not, aside from the food and drink. You see quality is what we do, and quality isn’t a fad.
Proclaimed to be one of the best places for cocktails and service that Jonathan Gold, the New York food critic of 50 years, and Pulitzer prize winner has ever visited, we take pride in constantly exceeding expectations, without taking ourselves too seriously.

Come try us out and enjoy some of our amazing dishes from our Head Chef Ashish Shukla.
Please see below for our current food menu.
With a selection of both local and international favourites, and selected draught beers available in glasses, vases and jugs, this is the perfect place to come for a few quiet ones.
Yes, we did say vases – probably the only place you can tell your partner you only had one when you really had two.
We’ll let you work that out.
Our extensive cocktail range has been created by a multitude of professional international bartenders, combining classics & exciting flavour combinations. It’s probably one of the best cocktail lists in the country.
Why?…
Because there’s something for everyone, they’re made with panache and with the final product in mind.
If you’re craving something off-menu, don’t hesitate to go and talk to our bartender’s – there’s more to what meets the eye. We’re always experimenting new recipes and need a guinea-pig customer to try our adventurous ideas on every now and again…You don’t ask, you don’t get.
The Conservatory is the first bar in New Zealand to bring on board the wines by the glass dispensers, so our customers can taste wine in its optimal state and by the glass, rather than having to buy a bottle. Our wine list is dominated by incredible New Zealand wines (undoubtedly some of the best in the world), with some quality international varietals that exude class.

We’re here to keep our patrons on their toes. This month is no different. Well, actually, it’s massively different. With the New Year comes new horizons as limits are being pushed beyond your control, but firmly within ours. Gin-uary sees the opportunity to continue celebrations as we house international gins to go hand in hand with this awesome sunshine. Come and drop by to find out more!
We serve up perfectly matched wine with your meal. Whether you’d like to explore the taste of Marlborough with a glass of Mahi Sauvignon Blanc with a freshly caught Marlborough Salmon Fish Of the Day or Hawkes Bay with a glass of Trinity Hill Tempranillo with a Hawkes Bay lamb loin, whether you’d like to go truly adventurous and trust our staff to guide you on a spontaneous path of tantalising discovery or whether you’d simply like to kick back and relax with a 5yr Plantation Barbados rum and coke, don’t worry because we’ve got it covered.
Food matching isn’t just about wine, though. We’re in a new age of food and beverage matching so why don’t you drop by and try the very best of North and South island craft beers with Emerson’s on tap and by bottle, together with a few from the Panhead range. From across the pond, the infamous Little Creatures Pale on tap and IPA by bottle. Then you’ll find the giants, so Corona, Steinlager (Pure on tap, Classic by bottle), Stella and a personal favourite, Kirin…Emerson’s Pilsner with a Snapper Fish Of the Day, Panhead Black Top Stout with a chocolate brownie Desert Of the Day, Little Creatures IPA with our pulled pork burger…the options are endless!
Have a read over our spirits, too. Do you like sweet whiskey? – Got it covered. Do you like super peaty whiskey? – Got it covered. We can go on all day, I’m sure you get the point by now.

In a city surrounded by sea, there are surprisingly few places that you can actually eat, drink and kick back with a sea view. So when this spot came available it was a no brainer. The intention was to build a place that would look great anywhere in the world, be suitable for any season or occasion and serve the best drinks and food at the right prices.
The owner’s inspiration for both the design and feel was drawn from as far as the Balaeric, Canary and Greek Isles to Sydney and Melbourne. It started out as a dream and after 12 months of hard work and incredible support from great people, it became a reality.
You see, we could never understand why every bar and restaurant has to be so uncomfortable. In this industry, you literally buy chairs by the amount of hours you want people sitting in them. That’s not what we wanted. We want you to sit here all day and into the night and have everything you need to make it an amazing experience, whilst the time flies by.
That’s why you can enjoy brunch, lunch, dinner and bar snacks at the Conservatory. You can chill out with a cocktail on the waterfront, sit on a couch by the fire with a great Pinot or kick back in our massive outdoor area with an ice cold beer, a sumptuous 18 inch pizza and marvel at the living wall that is the bar. This is the first bar built like this in the world … as far as we know.
It’s classy and cosmopolitan without being pretentious. It’s where you want to go rather than feel you should go.
Whether it’s for a small gathering, a big party or just a table for two, come and chill out. We’ll be ready to look after you.
If your looking to host that unforgettable function, let us take care of you. It’s what we do.
There is no need to make a booking if it’s for under 6 people, just turn up.
“Quintessential Waterside Drinking”
The Conservatory is one of New Zealand’s first ‘living bars’, the space is true to its name with lilies and various other seasonal New Zealand fauna growing throughout the bar.
Frequented by a combination of tourists, businessmen and locals the bar is laid-back and relaxed, paying homage to its sunny, oceanside setting. Cocktails are served in brightly coloured watering cans and large bespoke vases serve beer, really bringing the garden theme to life.
The service is excellent – we were greeted by the friendly staff upon entry, seated and drink orders are efficiently taken. The menu is perfect for sharing – with a selection of small sharing plates and their infamous 18 inch pizzas. Absolutely delicious.
The Conservatory is the perfect spot for a casual bonding session with friends, or just a spot to people watch and enjoy the ocean views.
Concrete Playground

Designed to suit every occasion, The Conservatory is literally full of life – it’s New Zealand’s first living bar
Heart of The City
“A Must Visit”
We’re not lying when we say The Conservatory is a must-visit spot down at Wynyard Quarter. This wine bar, cocktail bar and restaurant (yes three-in-one!) has a very relaxed atmosphere.
The Urban List
“Where the staff go out of their way to accommodate”
We visited on the first hot day of the Spring and it was packed – we were so hungry that we were reluctant to dine as it was so busy and we expected lengthy waits, bad food and no service – but we were so impressed – this place has it ALL!!
Firstly, the service was absolutely awesome, the waiter rearranged couches to accommodate us, the runners were all smiling with customers and it seemed like there was a big team to go around all the hungry patrons – we waited only a minute before our beers landed in front of us by a delightfully chirpy young runner with a pleasant ‘isn’t it a lovely day?’ – yes we thought!! Yes indeed!
We ordered potato chorizo, squid and a chicken salad to share which was probably the best meal we’ve eaten out in months – the potato chorizo was bursting with tomatoey deliciousness and had just the right amount of tangy chorizo to Balance it. The squid was soft, cooked to perfection and there was enough for both of us to share and feel satisfied and the chicken salad was all about the protein, not the usual bowl of leaves with a dusting of chicken like other places serve. It was well balanced, super tasty and was served fresh within 15 minutes.
On a hot summers day at peak service you don’t expect much but The Conservatory really impressed us and we’ll definitely be back – special mentions to ‘cherry’ and ‘jella’ the waitstaff who literally moved the place round to find a seat for us and made sure our glasses were always full – an excellent team clearly excellently managed.

“A Perfect evening spent”
Loved this restaurant! I had the yellow fin tuna, which may have been the best fish I’ve ever had: fresh, firm, and beautifully presented with a rich, flavorful salad, including wasabi. I was over the moon with the meal. The waiter who took care of us was impressively professional, very knowledgeable about the food and wine selections, and with a cool and wry sense of humor. And the location and setting are quintessential Auckland. I had a perfect evening at The Conservatory.

“Great Service and Food Under Pressure!!”
We were a group of 10 who did not have a booking on a Saturday night and looking for a meal! We were also in a slight hurry as we had tickets to the theater show at 8:30pm. We tried a couple of restaurants in Wynyard Quarter and were turned away from all.
Finally we tried The Conservatory which is renown for a more “laid back” experience and got blown away! Once we explained our situation. we were treated like regulars, tables and heaters were moved to accommodate our big group. Since we thought we might have to rush dinner we all decided to just have a burger. What a great choice, as it was tasty and well presented. The Beef and the Chicken burger got rave reviews from all!
The good news is that we still had 15mins spare to make our way over to the theater.
I will highly recommend this restaurant due to its managers and staff making our experience a great one!
